Talk with Your Doctor Guides MASLD/MASH
Whether you’ve been recently diagnosed with MASLD, MASH or have been living with your condition for years, talking with your doctor about your condition and management can be intimidating. However, it’s very important to ask questions and make sure you understand what’s going on inside your body. After all, this is your body and you are in charge of how you care for it after leaving the doctor’s office.
We created two Talk With Your Doctor guides, one for MASLD and one for MASH, to help you start or get better at having meaningful conversations with your doctor about your diagnosis and management plan. Please be aware that not all doctors have expertise in MASLD and MASH to answer these questions to your satisfaction. Hepatologists (liver specialists) will be more familiar with MASLD and MASH.

Harrison Patient Advocacy Fellowship Program
The Dr. Stephen A. Harrison Patient Advocacy Fellowship Program is a pioneering initiative designed to elevate the role of patient advocates in MASH (Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis) and steatotic liver disease research, drug and diagnostic development, and policy discussions.
This annual fellowship empowers up to 20 patient advocates by providing financial support, education, and access to key scientific and policy forums where they can contribute meaningfully to shaping the future of liver disease care.
The MASLD/MASH State of Care Survey
The MASLD/MASH State of Care Survey is a longitudinal research initiative by the Steatotic Liver Foundation that tracks how patients with metabolic liver disease experience their care over time.
By capturing real-world patient perspectives year after year, the survey provides critical insights into diagnosis gaps, treatment access, provider communication, and the evolving landscape of MASLD/MASH care.
The survey results are used to inform researchers, clinicians, and policymakers about the real-world state of liver disease care — directly from the patients who live with it every day.
